Table extensions that specifically enlarge your work surface
More work surface when your machine table isn't long enough
Large or long workpieces tip over as soon as they extend beyond the machine table—whether you’re cutting long strips to length, trimming furniture sides, or drilling long profiles. The RUWI table extension attaches directly to your machine table as an add-on table and provides the workpiece with a continuous support surface: depending on the model, 77 or 104 cm of additional length, adjustable to within a millimeter of flush with the support foot from 66 to 106 cm.
Assembly and disassembly require no tools; the extension can be attached to almost any machine and folded away or hung on the wall when not in use. If you line several of them up in a row, a short machine table becomes a continuous support for very long parts.
- Mafell Erika 70 or 85: The table extension for the Mafell Erika fits directly into the dovetail groove, can be positioned in any direction (360°), and, at 76 cm long, fits into an XXL Systainer.
- RUWI Milling Table or Drilling Table: The table extension for the mounting rail attaches directly to the rails—available in a short version (77 cm) or a long version (104 cm).
- Other stationary machines (band saw, circular saw, or panel saw; drill press; planer; Festool MFT; Sauter Variobench): also the version for mounting rails—plus the mounting adapter, which fits into Item, Minitec, and Nut-8 profiles or is screwed on directly. For free lateral positioning, add the profile rail.
Depending on the task, the following may also be required:
- Securely position and hold workpieces: the set of support rails with a slip-resistant surface (secured in the profile groove without tools) or the clamping brackets for securing the workpiece.
- If the machine is missing a rail: retrofit the single mounting rail.
- Mobile use on the construction site: the Systainer set —extensions and support rails safely stored in an XXL Systainer.
Short or long?
The short version (77 cm) is sufficient for moderate overhangs—individual furniture parts, drawer sides, and shorter strips. Use the long version (104 cm) when doors, stair stringers, or long solid wood panels extend well beyond the edge of the table. If in doubt, choose the long version or connect two extensions—too much support never hurts, but too little does.
Assembled in three steps
- Unfold the support leg and hook the extension into the mounting rail—or attach it using the mounting adapter.
- Adjust the height: Loosen the clamping lever, set it flush with the table surface (66–106 cm), then close the lever.
- Place the workpiece on the table and secure it with support rails or quick-release clamps if necessary. Done—no tools required.
How the RUWI Table Extension Works
- Tool-free assembly: Unfold the support leg, adjust the height, and attach the extension—no screws required.
- The height is infinitely adjustable from 66 to 106 cm using the clamping lever, until the support surface is flush with the machine table—leaving no gap where a workpiece could tip over.
- Clamping profile: three slots (8 mm diameter) accommodate RUWI quick-release clamps, or you can clamp directly onto the extension using clamps such as Festool FSZ or Bessey GTR.
- Support rails with a slip-resistant surface: They snap into the groove without tools and usually hold the workpiece in place without the need for additional clamping.
- Mounting adapter for almost any machine: for tables with Item, Minitec, or Nut-8 profiles, such as the Festool MFT or Sauter Variobench—or for direct mounting, for example, on a band saw table.
- Can be connected in any configuration: multiple extensions can be placed end-to-end to form a continuous support surface, or side-by-side for wide workpieces.
- Space-saving storage: Fold up the support leg and hang it on the wall; the Mafell version also fits inside an XXL Systainer.

Table extension or material stand?
A freestanding rolling block or material stand provides localized support for long workpieces—useful for very long or heavy planks—but it sits loose in the room and rarely aligns exactly with the table height. The RUWI table extension is firmly attached to the machine as an add-on table and connects flush with the surface: The workpiece glides seamlessly onto a continuous support surface, which you can also use for clamping. For precise, repeatable cuts directly at the machine, this is the more stable option; for occasionally supporting meter-long parts, the material stand remains the simpler choice. The two are not mutually exclusive.
Applications and Compatibility
The version for mounting rails fits directly onto RUWI drilling and milling tables and anywhere else where a mounting rail is installed. With the mounting adapter, the extension can be attached to many other machines and tables:
- Table saws, circular saws, panel saws, band saws, crosscut saws
- Bench and table drills, row drilling machines
- Planers, thicknessers, and multi-sided planers
- Edge sanding and disk sanding machines
- Festool MFT, Sauter Variobench, Dictum Multifunction Table
Typical tasks: positioning long furniture sides and cross-cuts, cutting moldings, square timber, and ceiling panels to length with consistent accuracy, cutting parquet planks and fitting strips for kitchen installations, making miter cuts on long pieces, and supporting large workpieces on the drill press. The table extension is used in joinery and carpentry, in furniture manufacturing and the wood industry, in training workshops, and in facilities for people with disabilities.
FAQs
The Mafell version is designed to fit the dovetail profile of the Erika 70 and 85 under-table rip saws and is 76 cm long. The version for mounting rails fits RUWI router tables and drill tables, as well as any machine with a mounting rail, and is available in a short (77 cm) or long (104 cm) version.
Directly compatible with: Mafell Erika 70/85 and RUWI drilling and routing table. With the mounting adapter, it is also compatible with table saws, circular saws, and panel saws; band saws and miter saws; drill presses, bench drills, and row-drilling machines; planers, thicknessers, and multi-sided planers; edge sanders and disc sanders; as well as the Festool MFT and Sauter Variobench.
Yes, using the mounting adapter (sold separately). It attaches securely to the outer rail and can be adjusted vertically using the slotted hole, ensuring that the extension fits flush. This means it also fits other multifunction tables or workbenches with a side groove measuring 8 to 10 mm.
Yes. Multiple units can be arranged in a row to form a continuous surface, or placed side by side for wide workpieces—for example, along the long side of the Mafell Erika or using two mounting adapters on the Festool MFT.
No tools required: Release the clamping lever, adjust the extension to the desired length between 66 and 106 cm at table height, and close the lever again.
No, both are sold separately. If you’re only using the Mafell Erika or—in the rail version—only the RUWI milling and drilling table, you don’t need an adapter. It’s required for other stationary machines; the profile rail complements it for more flexible lateral positioning.
Fold in the support leg and hang it on the wall using the built-in hook. All extensions fit into an XXL Systainer—either individually or as part of a Systainer set.
Yes, for lighter tasks such as providing additional support for a press brake, metal grinder, or drill press. It is not designed for very heavy components.
