Our Workshop Story

Our story began in 1975, right in our own workshop. Join us on the journey of how we discovered what truly lies within us – and how that sparked real innovative power.

1975

Joinery Workshop

RUWI origins RUWI in a passion for craftsmanship—and in its own workshop. Reiner Ruggaber learned the carpentry trade at a young age and continued to develop his skills over the years. With great dedication, he steadily expanded his wealth of experience and his ability to find creative solutions.

2000

Unfolding

Little by little, Reiner’s enthusiasm for tinkering also began to take hold—his drive to innovate became increasingly apparent. He created his own tools and solutions to continuously improve the workshop. Eventually, Reiner decided to combine his two passions—craftsmanship and innovation. Determined to pursue this path, he laid the foundation for RUWI.

2005

Attractiveness

The passion for craftsmanship and tinkering strongly attracted other wood professionals. For them too, the combination of craftsmanship and technical development unlocked unforeseen potential. Through shared exchange, new tools, machines, and solutions emerged.

2010

Focus

The focus has always been—and remains—on strengthening and empowering the craft, the people involved in it, and the workshop as a whole. The RUWI’ goal is to unleash the workshop’s innovative potential—because they themselves were shaped in and by the workshop. With every tool, every machine, and every solution, the RUWI expresses this belief: The workshop and the craft hold the power for development and the future.

2015

Pass on

After 15 years of passionate work, the results are clearly visible: existing ideas have been further developed, and new ones have been created. The greatest privilege remains the ability to spark potential in others. What the father started is now being shaped by his two sons—they are growing into their roles and contributing their own innovative spirit. RUWI with the next generation—committed, capable, and forward-looking.

2025

Empower

Over the past ten years, the skilled trades have undergone significant changes: efficiency has often taken precedence over craftsmanship, challenges have increased, and in many places, the potential for innovation has gone untapped. This is exactly where RUWI : We believe in the future potential of the skilled trades. For 25 years, we’ve been using our developments and principles to strengthen the innovative power of the skilled trades. Because the future is shaped in workshops—including yours.
