We first built these shelves for our own workshop. In the process, we realized that they could also be a real help to other woodworking professionals. That’s exactly why we’d like to share them with you now.
One cart, one step—everything within reach
Workshop and shelving carts were developed in-house at RUWI to streamline production and assembly: Each assembly is assigned its own cart, with all parts, tools, and fixtures in one place—the next step in the process is just a reach away. Both carts roll on four castors casters with brakes to wherever work is currently being done, and are built from aluminum and powder-coated steel to withstand the rigors of everyday workshop use.
Which car is right for your plans?
You start with one of the two cars—they're built the same way, but there's one difference:
- Workbench cart: with an HPL work surface on top, if you want to use the cart not only for storage but also for setting things down and working.
- Shelving cart: without a work surface, used solely as a storage and staging system.
Both have a base area of approximately 100 × 60 cm, can support up to 250 kg (50 kg per shelf), and are compatible with the RUWI lift tables in terms of design and height.
Managing Materials Using the Kanban Principle
The shelves, side panels, and back panels are magnetic: Kanban cards and labels stay in place without adhesive, allowing you to clearly manage restocking and see at a glance what needs to be replenished. You can adjust the height of the shelves tool-free —horizontally for stacking Euroboxes and Systainers, or at an angle for open-shelf storage that allows for quick access.
Your car, customized over time
Both carts are designed to adapt to the task at hand. Additional shelves create space, the functional back panel holds tools via functional slots, the functional side connects two carts together, and the tool tray, roller holder, and iPad holder with swivel arm bring tools and plans right to the cart. For small parts that need to be accessed quickly, there are the Kippbox 5 S and Kippbox 6 S.
