Safety System for Format Circular Saws

The RUWI sawing system - for uncompromising work safety

Your hands and fingers are your most important tools

Press, turn, secure: With the RUWI clamping and sawing system, you can securely clamp workpieces of any shape and size onto the sliding table of your panel saw—without tools and in about 10 seconds. Your hands stay out of the danger zone, even when working with small, narrow, or angled pieces.

At a glance: tool-free operation and set up in about 10 seconds; securely holds workpieces of any shape on the sliding carriage; tested by the German Social Accident Insurance Association (BGHM) and awarded the DGUV seal of approval—for upright, back-friendly work.

Classic or Premium?

Both versions safely cut small, narrow, and angled workpieces and fit standard format circular saws. The difference lies in trimming long workpieces: To do this, you clamp the board at the front and back—the premium version handles this with its second swivel clamp and the two narrow auxiliary stops with holding tips.

Property Classic Premium
Safe Sawing of Small Workpieces
Feed Stop
Angled guide stop
Narrow auxiliary stop with retaining pins 2 pieces
Swivel Clamp 1 piece 2 pieces

Both versions are compatible with machines from Altendorf, Martin, Felder, and other manufacturers (upon request). You can upgrade a Classic Set to the Premium configuration at any time—by adding a second swivel clamp and the two narrow auxiliary stops (upon request).

An alternative to the “Fritz and Franz” sawing aid

Many carpenters are familiar with the “Fritz und Franz” sawing aid—developed by the employers’ liability insurance association—which ensures safe sawing of small workpieces. It’s a proven and affordable solution. The RUWI clamping and sawing system takes it two steps further: You can secure the workpiece directly to the sliding carriage without tools—and without an additional crosscut stop—and you can also clamp it at an angle, which makes all the difference when making miter and wedge cuts. For cutting small parts only, “Fritz und Franz” remains the simple choice; but if you regularly need to cut angled, long, or warped workpieces safely, the RUWI system offers a more convenient solution.

Workplace Safety That Doesn't Take Any Time

In the day-to-day routine of a workshop, there’s often little time left for workplace safety—even though it’s crucial to your health. The RUWI safety system takes the guesswork out of it: Insert the clamping cylinder into the groove from above, rotate it 90°, and clamp it in place—in about 10 seconds, the workpiece is secured, and you’re complying with BGHM recommendations with minimal effort. The clamping cylinder and pressure plate adjust to accommodate large, small, and complex-shaped parts, so you can work safely even without a second person. Because you stand upright and apply the clamping force via the ergonomic handle, this is easier on your back during long cutting runs. The included wall panel next to the saw keeps all components within easy reach.

Applications and Compatibility

The RUWI safety system is an occupational safety solution for standard sliding table saws. Using the swivel clamp, you can install it on machines from Altendorf, Martin, Felder, and other manufacturers. It is used in carpentry and joinery shops, in the woodworking industry and furniture manufacturing, by professional DIYers and woodworkers, in training workshops, and in facilities for people with disabilities.

Compatible with Altendorf, Martin, Felder (X-Roll, Format 4, Hammer), Panhans, SCM, Holzkraft / Minimax, and other panel saws with a formatting carriage or sliding table—just contact us.

How to Use the System

The system comes pre-assembled and can be set up on the saw without tools: Insert the clamping cylinder with the slotted nut into the groove, rotate it 90°, and clamp it in place. The feed stop has a long slotted nut that fits the groove width of your machine.

Trimming Solid Wood

When trimming boards or planks, you mount a clamping cylinder with a swivel arm on the front of the sliding carriage and secure the board; at the rear, the feed stop presses against the end face. With the Premium Set, you mount one clamping cylinder with a swivel arm at the front and one at the rear, and place the two narrow auxiliary stops in between—the retaining tips prevent the workpiece from slipping.

Sawing Small Parts Safely

There’s no need to hold small workpieces by hand close to the saw blade. Place the auxiliary stop on the sliding carriage, adjust the angle and distance from the saw blade, and securely attach it to the carriage using the swivel arm. Then insert the feed stop into the groove, align it, and secure it with the clamping lever.

Slopes and Angles

Using the flexible feed stop and the angled auxiliary stop, you can position workpieces at any desired angle. The clamping cylinder and pressure plate accommodate a wide variety of workpiece sizes—allowing you to make miter cuts and wedge cuts with confidence.

Wedge Cut Application

Clamp long workpieces directly onto the sliding carriage (Premium)

With the premium version, you can clamp long workpieces directly onto the sliding carriage. The second swivel clamp and the narrow auxiliary stop secure the board at two points—you can rotate and tighten it until the cut is just right, even with warped planks.

The individual components: The clamping cylinder can be attached anywhere along the groove without tools and, thanks to its long adjustment range, can also be mounted at an angle or in a combination configuration. The feed stop holds the workpiece against the auxiliary stop while keeping your fingers out of the danger zone; you adjust the distance and angle to the saw blade using the clamping lever. The pressure plate adapts to the shape and size of the workpiece via a ball joint and rubber pad—even on uneven parts, without damaging the surface. The swivel arm is attached to the clamping cylinder, rotates 360°, and secures the workpiece firmly via the ergonomic handle. The powder-coated steel wall panel holds all components next to the saw. The angled auxiliary stop is adjustable for angle and distance via a slotted hole, and its rubber edge prevents slipping. The two narrow auxiliary stops included in the Premium Set are secured to the clamping cylinders without tools; their screw-in retaining tips provide additional support when trimming long workpieces.
