The idea behind it

Reiner Ruggaber

The 3D milling unit transforms your RUWI router table into a free-form milling station. Using movable swivel supports, you can safely guide curved, contoured, and irregular workpieces along the milling cutter—the supports follow the contour instead of holding the workpiece rigidly in place. This allows you to machine shapes that cannot be milled with a fixed stop.

The unit comes with its own drive: 1,050 watts at 230 V, continuously 8,000 to 25,000 rpm, with soft start, constant speed under load, and inrush current limiting. The double-bearing steel spindle (Ø 22 mm) with a return thread keeps dust away from the bearing; accommodates tools up to Ø 40 mm, collet Ø 8 mm (optional 6 / 6.35 / 9.5 / 10 mm). The adjustable dust extraction nozzle (Ø 120 mm) is included; as a “3D milling device,” the unit is part of the GS certification (DGUV Test) and wood dust testing for the RUWI router table system. Manufactured in Germany, 8.3 kg.

Here's how to use it

  • Milling curved edges: curved furniture parts, stair stringers, and free-form panels run over the swivel supports—the support tilts with the shape, and the milling height remains consistent along the entire curve.
  • Re-milling stencil parts: The 3D unit guides the tool freely past complex contours that would otherwise come into contact with the guide rail.
  • Retrofit in minutes: attach it to the side of the housing with two screws, plug it into the factory-installed Schuko outlet—and the marking table becomes a free-form station.
