The collet is the link between the cutter and the spindle: it transmits power from the motor to the cutter shank and keeps it precisely centered with perfect concentricity. At the high rotational speeds of a milling table, even a slight imbalance can cause vibrations, an uneven milled surface, and premature tool wear—which is why every collet is manufactured to fit exactly one shank diameter and encloses it almost completely.

This precision collet for the Classic Performance’s 1,600-watt motor features multiple slots: The slots distribute the clamping force evenly across the entire circumference rather than concentrating it at just a few points—this increases the grip, and you need to apply less force to the wrench (SW 22). This really pays off, especially when using large cutters and working with hardwood or MDF. The matching lock nut is included.

Here's how to use it

• Choose from eleven shank sizes ranging from 3 to 12.7 mm— including 3.175 and 6.35 mm (⅛ and ¼ inch, for many imported and CNC cutters) as well as 12 and 12.7 mm for the large shanks that maximize performance. The collet must fit the shank exactly; never “approximately.”
• Let it run smoothly: the precise, concentric fit keeps the cutting edge on track—clean milling results, longer tool life.
• Maintain instead of replacing: Keep them clean and check for wear before use—a pair of pliers in good condition clamps more securely and protects the drill shank.
