Which cutter is right for your project?

The Milling Cutter Advisor guides you from the workpiece to the right milling cutter in just a few questions.

The RUWI flush trim bit Ø 9.5 mm trims protruding edges flush with the reference surface—edge banding, veneer overhangs, and template contours. Its slim head is its strength: With a diameter of 9.5 mm, it follows tight interior radii and contours that the larger flush trim bit cannot reach. Two fixed-blade carbide cutting edges (Z2, right-hand rotation) cut softwood, hardwood, and coated panels.

The thrust ball bearing (Ø 9.5 mm) and the cutting path trace the same circle—the router bit cuts flush with the surface, leaving no step. The 25 mm cutting length handles standard panel thicknesses in a single pass; shank Ø 8 mm, overall length 72 mm, 28 g.

Here's how to use it

  • Milling edge banding and veneer flush: The bearing runs along the finished surface, and the cutting edge removes only the excess material—the edge is flush, and the surface remains untouched.
  • Copying tight contours: curved stencils with small inner radii—the 9.5-mm bit runs out of the curve where a 19-mm bit would be needed.
  • Finishing cutouts: Cut openings in coated panels to final dimensions along the template—one pass, clean edge.
  • Whether on a table- router table , or in a handheld router: the 8-mmshank works in both—on the table, you guide the workpiece; when using it by hand, you guide the machine.

Does this fit your router?

The shank requires an collet with an 8 mm diameter—it is standard on theRUWI router table Basic, Classic, Classic Performance, and Premium models, and is also compatible with hand-held routers and bench routers.

A clear distinction: For thick edges and continuous use, the flush trim bit with indexable inserts (Ø 19 mm) is the more robust choice—larger cutting radius, 30 mm cutting length, and inserts designed to be rotated and replaced rather than resharpened. Additional cutters are listed in the overview of RUWI milling tools.
