Which cutter is right for your project?

The Milling Cutter Advisor guides you from the workpiece to the right milling cutter in just a few questions.

The RUWI flush trim bit Ø 19 mm trims protruding edges flush with the reference surface—whether you’re copying a template or flush-milling edge banding and veneer overhangs. Instead of soldered-on cutting edges, it features two carbide indexable inserts (30 × 12 mm): When one cutting edge becomes dull, simply rotate the insert 180° to reveal a fresh edge. If both sides are worn, replace the insert using a TORX screwdriver—no need to send it to a sharpening service, no downtime.

The guide ball bearing (Ø 19 mm) is designed to match the cutting path and guides the router bit along an edge or template. Double-edged (Z2), right-hand rotation, 30 mm working length – sufficient for thicker workpieces in a single pass; shank Ø 8 mm, overall length 72 mm. It cuts solid wood, coated panels, and wood-based materials.

Here's how to use it

  • Milling edge banding and veneer flush: the bearing runs along the finished surface, and the indexable insert removes only the overhang—the edge is flush, and the surface remains untouched.
  • Copying stencils: The large 19-mm head delivers high cutting speed and a clean cut—especially on straight and wide contours.
  • Continuous operation without downtime: It takes one minute to rotate the insert on the TORX—the cutter remains in production, while others are sent out for sharpening.
  • Thick edges in a single pass: 30 mm working length processes the panel thickness plus the edge banding without repositioning.

Does this fit your router?

The shank requires an collet with an 8 mm diameter—it is standard on theRUWI router table Basic, Classic, Classic Performance, and Premium models, and is also compatible with hand-held routers and bench routers.

A practical limitation: The 19 mm head is too large for tight inner radii—in that case, use the slim flush trim bit Ø 9.5 mm, which follows tight contours flush with the surface. For more milling cutters, see the overview of RUWI milling tools.
