Mafell MT 55 cc Fan Set Plunge Saw in the T-MAX

Cut the kitchen countertop to length and cut the sink cutout in the center of the surface. Trim the doors, cut the cabinet and furniture panels to size, and adjust the built-in components during installation. Two scenarios show you that you’ve come to the right place: coated exposed edges that need to come out of the saw without tear-outs—and a cutout that doesn’t start at the edge of the panel. For the first, the MT 55 cc features a built-in scoring function; for the second, it offers plunge cutting.

Pre-scoring, built-in instead of add-on: Turn the detent, pre-score the board by about 3 mm, return the detent, plunge to full depth—the visible edge stays clean, even when the rail’s chip guard has already seen kilometers of use. It cuts 0 to 57 mm with 1-mm increments; at 45°, the cutting depth is 40.5 mm, and the speed remains constant even under load. And you can keep your existing rails: The MT 55 cc is officially compatible with standard third-party rails—simply remove the insert and adjust the guide clearance using the two adjustment wheels.

• Scoring exposed edges: coated panels without chipping—no other machine in this class offers integrated scoring.
• Recessed cutouts: sink, cooktop, access panel—in the middle of the surface rather than at the edge.
• Runs on existing tracks: officially compatible with standard third-party tracks—if you have Festool or Bosch tracks, you don't need new ones.
• Resharpen the blade instead of throwing it away: compatible with diameters from 162 to 149 mm—the fine adjustment (one turn = 1 mm) compensates for the depth.

Does this fit in your workshop?

Anything over 57 mm is out of the question: planks and beams are best handled by the K 65 cc or K 85 —and be careful with miter cuts; at 45°, the MT 55’s maximum depth is limited to 40.5 mm. Repeatable sizing is a job for Erika; many cross-cuts are done on the KSS series. And a candid look at Festool: The TS 55 F offers a 45° cutting depth, a wider speed range, and its ecosystem—if you’re deeply immersed in the Festool and MFT world and don’t need scoring precision on a daily basis, you’re in good hands there.
