Cutting KVH to length, mitered rafter sheathing, planks, doors, countertops—and insulation boards too: The KSS 60 is the top-of-the-line model in the crosscut rail family, built for carpentry, structural assembly, and heavy-duty interior finishing. On the rail, it cuts to a depth of 61 mm with a cutting length of 470 mm; the angle stops range from −60° to +60°—and after the cut, the saw automatically retracts to its starting position.
The push of a button releases the machine from the rail, leaving you with a full-featured cordless circular saw with a 67 mm cutting depth—technically the K 65 18M bl, featuring the FLIPPKEIL and plunge depth preset: simply clamp the stop bar, and every subsequent plunge cut will be at the same depth. Wood-fiber insulation materials are explicitly listed as an intended use (in the operator’s manual)—along with the insulation material sheet, this is a selling point that the smaller KSS models do not offer. The battery is CAS: one for Mafell, Metabo, Lamello, and Prebena; not compatible with Festool or Bosch.
The fact that you’re buying the Mafell saw at RUWI isn’t something to take for granted: We’re the manufacturers ourselves—tools for woodworking professionals from Fluorn-Winzeln, 4 kilometers from the Mafell factory in Oberndorf am Neckar. We carry only what we can recommend based on our own experience—right down to the statement that hardly any retailer includes: what this saw is not approved for.
Here's how to use it
-
Cut KVH and Bohlen up to 61 mm: 470 mm cutting length—the longest in the series, with automatic retraction.
-
Miters up to 60° in both directions: the movable marking pointer adjusts to the angle.
-
Performing a series of dive cuts: Preset dive depth using a stop bar—each repetition at the same depth.
-
Cutting insulation materials: Wood fiber boards are expressly permitted according to the operating instructions—using the appropriate insulation sheet.
Does this fit in your workshop?
If you’re primarily cutting to lengths under 40 mm, the KSS 40 or KSS 50 is a lighter and more cost-effective option. For cuts over 61 mm on the rail, the K 85 takes over; cutting visible edges on coated panels without a scoring function is the domain of the MT 55. And honestly: According to the operating instructions, the saw is not approved for continuous industrial use—batch production at a fixed workstation remains a job for Erika. The KSS 60 cc is the same saw but with a power cord.
