Brief description

The collet is the link between the cutter and the spindle: it transmits power from the motor to the cutter shank and keeps it perfectly centered. At the high speeds of a router table, even a slight imbalance is enough to cause vibrations, an uneven cut, and premature tool wear. A collet is manufactured to fit exactly one shank diameter and encloses it almost completely—this ensures the cutter runs smoothly and sits securely.

This precision collet has multiple slots. A single-slotted collet applies pressure at only a few points; multiple slots distribute the pressure evenly around the entire circumference. The collet grips the shank more evenly, increasing the grip, and you need less force to clamp the cutter securely—this really pays off, especially with large cutters and hard materials like hardwood or MDF.

The collet is designed for the RUWI Classic Performance milling table and comes with a matching lock nut. It is available in eleven shank sizes ranging from 3 to 12.7 mm—since each collet fits exactly one diameter, choose the one that matches your router bit’s shank. Keep it clean and check it for wear before use: A clean, undamaged collet clamps more securely and also protects the router bit.
