Mortise locks belong in every door—and the lock case must be installed in the door panel cleanly, with precise dimensions, and without any tear-out. The SKS 130 cuts the mortise directly into the panel: the machine comes to the door, not the door to the mortising machine. According to Mafell, it is the first mobile specialty machine designed for this task—built for door manufacturers and installation carpenters who install locks in large quantities.

1,600 W powers the chisel chain, which clears the box of debris without causing any tear marks, regardless of its size. The lock case width determines the chain set: Three chain sets for 14, 16, and 18 mm cover the standard lock dimensions—the system is swapped out, rather than improvised to fit the dimensions. This ensures that every lock case is reproducible, from the first door panel to the fiftieth.

The fact that you’re buying the Mafell machine at RUWI isn’t something to take for granted: We’re manufacturers ourselves—tools for woodworking professionals from Fluorn-Winzeln, 4 kilometers from the Mafell factory in Oberndorf am Neckar. We carry only what we can recommend based on our own experience—and when it comes to a specialist like this, we’ll ask you how many units you need before making the sale.

Here's how to use it

  • Installing lock cases: tear-free installation in the door panel—whether the panel is hanging or lying flat.
  • Running production lines on the assembly line: exterior and interior doors, reproducible unit by unit.
  • Choose the hardware for the lock: 14, 16, or 18 mm—the case size determines the chain.
  • Finishing the door fit: The MHU 82 one-handed plane is the classic tool for the job.

Does this fit in your workshop?

The SKS 130 is a specialist—and specialists want to be kept busy. If you only build doors occasionally, it’s hard to justify the cost; in that case, talk to us before you order, and we’ll go over your production volumes together. If you install locks regularly—in commercial projects, in door manufacturing, or as part of an installation crew—this is the machine that handles this specific task faster and more cleanly than any workaround.
