The RUWI 45° chamfering router bit creates a 45° chamfer on edges—to round off sharp edges and produce clean chamfers on solid wood, MDF, wood-based materials, and coated panels. With a diameter of 36.7 mm tool diameter and a depth of 12 mm working length , you can create even wide chamfers in a single pass. The “ guide ball bearing ” (Ø 12.7 mm) runs along the edge of the workpiece and guides the cutter even along curved contours where no stop fits.

The cutter is double-edged (Z2), carbide-tipped, and has a fixed insert ( right-hand rotation ): When it becomes dull, it’s sent for resharpening instead of having to replace the inserts. shank Ø 8 mm; you replace the ball bearing individually when it wears out.

Here's how to use it

  • Batch edge chamfering: Every workpiece edge receives the same fine chamfer—to prevent snags during handling and splintering edges on the finished furniture.
  • Cutting wide bevels: The 12 mm working length can handle even bold, decorative bevels in a single pass—without the need for multiple passes to create steps.
  • Chamfering curved edges: The guide bearing follows the contour of the panels and cutouts—the stop remains folded down.
  • Preparing MDF for painting: The beveled edge helps the paint adhere where sharp edges would otherwise show through.

Does this fit your router?

The shank requires an collet with a diameter of 8 mm. With this head diameter, the cutter fits into the router table and runs at a reduced speed—more smoothly and safely than when used freehand; the stepless adjustment of the RUWI router tables adjusts it appropriately. It also runs on CNC machines.

If you need replaceable cutting edges instead of regrinding, use the chamfering cutter with an indexable insert; for fine chamfers in tight inside corners, use the miniature chamfering cutter. For more cutters, see the overview of RUWI milling tools.
