RUWI 's 45° Chamfering Cutter with Indexable Insert creates a 45° chamfer on edges—for rounding sharp edges and cleanly chamfering solid wood, MDF, and coated panels. Instead of brazed-on cutting edges, it features two square carbide indexable inserts (12 × 12 mm): When an edge becomes dull, simply rotate the insert—each insert offers four usable cutting edges before you need to replace it. No need to send it to a sharpening service, no downtime.

With a 32 mm diameter tool diameter and a 12 mm diameter working length , it can also cut wider chamfers in a single pass. The guide ball bearing (16 mm diameter) guides the cutter along an edge or template; shank 8 mm diameter, overall length 65 mm, right-hand rotation (Z2).

Here's how to use it

  • Batch edge chamfering: Every workpiece edge receives the same fine chamfer—to prevent snags during handling and splintering edges on the finished furniture.
  • Continuous operation without downtime: It takes one minute to rotate the panel—four edges per panel, two panels per cutter: eight fresh cutting edges before reloading is necessary.
  • Cutting wide bevels: The 12 mm working length creates a bold, decorative bevel in a single pass—without the need for multiple passes to create steps.
  • Preparing MDF for painting: The beveled edge helps the paint adhere where sharp edges would otherwise show through.

Does this fit your router?

The shank requires an collet with a diameter of 8 mm. Given this head diameter, it’s worth using it in the router table at a reduced speed—it’s smoother and safer than freehand drilling; the stepless adjustment of the RUWI router tables allows you to adjust it as needed. It also runs on CNC machines.

A practical limitation: The 32-series cutter head is too large for tight inside corners and small radii—in those cases, use the miniature chamfering cutter with a 5-mm diameter guide ring. If you need a permanently fixed, resharpenable tool, the permanently fixed chamfering cutter is the alternative; see the overview of RUWI milling tools for additional cutters.
