Cutting planks, cross-cutting KVH lumber, trimming doors and countertops, cutting insulation boards—anywhere where 58 mm is a tight fit but you still don’t want to have to use a two-handed saw. The K 65 18M bl cuts to a depth of 67 mm and weighs 4.4 kg—just 100 grams more than the K 55, with 9 mm more cutting depth. For those who regularly work at the 58-mm limit, this model provides the extra leeway without sacrificing maneuverability.

You can adjust the speed to one of six settings depending on the material; the FLIPPKEIL folds away and back for plunge cuts. Wood-fiber insulation materials are explicitly listed in the intended use (operator’s manual). And here’s an important detail about blade selection: The standard Z 16 blade is designed for rip cuts—the KSS 60, on the other hand, comes with a cross-cut blade. The battery is CAS: one for Mafell, Metabo, Lamello, and Prebena; not compatible with Festool or Bosch.

Buying the Mafell saw from RUWI isn’t something you should take for granted: We’re manufacturers ourselves—tools for woodworking professionals from Fluorn-Winzeln, 4 kilometers from the Mafell factory in Oberndorf am Neckar. We carry only what we can recommend based on our own experience—and let the numbers speak for themselves instead of using “best-in-class” hype.

Here's how to use it

  • 60-series blade without cable: 67 mm free cut depth—the cutting depth of the 65-series with the handling of the 55-series.
  • Adjust material: six speed settings on the control dial—from plastic to coated panels.
  • Performing plunge cuts: Fold out the FLIPPKEIL, plunge in, then fold it back—without having to remove the riving knife.
  • Retrofit the trimming system later: The trimming rail—slot —in the base plate accommodates the guide mechanism M.

Does this fit in your workshop?

The key questions remain the same: If 58 mm is enough for everyday use, the K 55 18M bl saves money. If you’re primarily doing precise, repeatable cuts, take a look first at the KSS 60 18M bl —the same machine, equipped with a rail and automatic retraction as standard. For cuts over 67 mm, the K 85-18 takes over, and the K 65 cc is the same saw but with a power cord.

You can read about why your vacuum should be Dust Class M in the knowledge article on wood dust extraction —and the Machine Advisor will help you find the right saw by asking you two or three questions.
