The chip guard is located in the RUWI drilling table below the drilling location. When the drill bit passes through the workpiece, it supports the exit edge—ensuring the hole emerges without tearing—and at the same time protects the drill bit tip by preventing it from striking the steel plate. A milled zero line helps you align the drilling location.

The rebated planboard fits flush into the recess in the table and can be removed without tools. As a wear part, it is designed to be replaced: first flip it over to use the other side, then replace it.

Here's how to use it

  • Through-holes without tear-out: The Planboard supports the fibers at the exit edge—the back side remains clean without the need for a backing board.
  • Align the drilling location: The milled zero line indicates the center—align the marking on the workpiece with the line, then drill.
  • Managing wear and tear: Once one side is worn out, flip the board over and use the other side—it’s best to keep a spare in the closet; switching them out takes just seconds.
