Siding for wood-frame construction, fiber-cement facade panels, OSB cut to size on the job site: Cutting large-format materials usually means either carrying the panels to a stationary saw—or holding a circular saw steady for three meters freehand. The PSS 3100 SE offers a third option: You place the guide rail, set the depth and end point, start the machine—and the saw makes the cut on its own, with a motorized feed rate of 0.07 to 0.34 m/s over the full cutting length of 3,100 mm. One-person operation, every cut as straight as the first.

Her second argument is dust: The saw blade runs fully enclosed, and the integrated extraction channel collects the chips right where they’re produced—when connected to the M-vacuum, the room stays clean, instead of the cut material covering half the job site in dust. That’s exactly what the enclosure is designed for: What doesn’t leave the source doesn’t have to be inhaled or swept up by anyone. Add to that the scoring function for tear-free coated edges, the extension stop for formats over 3,100 mm, the adjustable end stop—which automatically retracts the blade at the end of the cut—and the plunge cut via the swiveling riving knife. The full-wave electronics regulate the speed from 2,600 to 5,200 rpm depending on the material—including cement-bonded panels when using the diamond blade set. For transport, the rail is split using the included tool; the system weighs 18.3 kg.

It’s not a given that you’ll buy the Mafell system at RUWI : We’re manufacturers ourselves—tools for woodworking professionals based in Fluorn-Winzeln, 4 kilometers from the Mafell factory in Oberndorf am Neckar. We carry only what we can recommend from our own experience—and we’ll tell you honestly below who will really benefit from this caliber of product.

Here's how to use it

  • Large-format materials on the construction site: sheathing, siding, OSB—cut them on site where they’ll be installed, instead of hauling panels back and forth.
  • Set the cut, start, check: Set the depth on the scale, set the end stop—the feed takes over, and the blade retracts at the end.
  • Coated without tearing: Switch the saw unit to scoring mode, then cut through.
  • Fiber cement and Trespa: Adjust the speed to the material, use the diamond blade set—the dust extraction system is running.

Does this fit in your workshop?

The PSS pays off wherever large-format cuts are made regularly and there is no stationary panel saw—in wood-frame construction, on facades, and in commercial interior finishing. It is not a replacement for a pressure-beam saw in furniture production: Anyone who cuts cabinet components to tenths of a millimeter daily should stick with the stationary solution. And for occasional panel cutting, the MT 55 cc on the guide rail is sufficient—the PSS comes into its own when cuts turn into production runs and dust must be contained at the work site. The S 25 M dust extractor connects directly to the duct.

You can read about why your vacuum should be Dust Class M in the knowledge article on wood dust extraction —and the Machine Advisor will help you find the right saw by asking you two or three questions.
