Accessories

DUSS has been manufacturing drill and chisel hammers in Neubulach in the Black Forest since 1920. The PX 78 is a 7-kg-class combination hammer with an SDS-max chuck; the set includes SMX4 pointed chisels and FMX4 flat chisels in a carrying case. Performance, impact energy, drilling ranges, and vibration levels are listed under “All Details.” Special promotional price from Mafell from September 1 through December 31, 2026; includes a hoodie voucher in the case.

A construction tool, not a carpentry tool. Where it comes in handy in a carpenter’s shop: assembly. Cutting openings for wiring, countersinking outlets, chipping away at baseboards and old tiles, and cutting channels before the fixtures are installed. If you do this yourself on a regular basis instead of waiting for a construction assistant, this is the machine for you—built for concrete.

Here's how to use it

  • Drilling in concrete: Solid-body drill bits and hammer drill bits, even up to large diameters; you set the speed using the adjustment wheel, and the electronic system maintains it under load.
  • Chiseling: Switch between hammer drilling and chiseling; the chisel locks into twenty positions. The Active Vibration Damping (RVA) system absorbs some of the impact from your hands; see “All Details” for specifications.
  • Work from the bottom up: The auxiliary handle can be screwed into the switch handle. This allows the machine to stand upright like a jackhammer, keeping your back straight and reducing vibration—as explained in the details.
  • Continuous operation: Switch lock, maintenance-free lubrication, safety roller clutch, LED indicator for service scheduling.

Does this fit in your workshop?

For standard dowel holes and occasional installation drilling, a cordless hammer drill is sufficient—it’s lighter and you probably already have one in your car. The PX 78 picks up where the cordless hammer drill leaves off: for large diameters and jobs that a cordless drill can’t handle. If you drill through a wall once a year, rent one. If you’re working with concrete on every other installation, buy one.
