Which cutter is right for your project?

The Milling Cutter Advisor guides you from the workpiece to the right milling cutter in just a few questions.

The RUWI double-rounding/chamfering cutter machines the top and bottom edges of a workpiece in a single pass. In the basic configuration, it cuts a 45° chamfer on both sides; if you swap the profile parts, it rounds both edges with a radius of R2.5. The centrally mounted ball bearing (Ø 16 mm) runs along the workpiece edge and guides the cutter even along curved contours.

Use the included spacer discs to adjust the cutter to the material thickness—designed for workpieces 11 to 22 mm thick—so that the profiles sit symmetrically at the top and bottom. Ø 22 mm tool diameter, 11–12 mm working length, shank Ø 8 mm at 85 mm overall length; carbide-tipped (Z2), right-hand rotation, for softwood, hardwood, and coated panels.

Here's how to use it

  • Both edges in a single pass: the workpiece passes the milling cutter once—the same profile is machined on both the top and bottom, without turning the workpiece or making a second adjustment.
  • Symmetry without measuring: the spacer discs center the profile on the material thickness—turned parts look just like unturned ones.
  • Switch between chamfering and rounding: Swap out the profile inserts, and the chamfering cutter becomes a double rounding cutter— shank, two edge profiles.
  • Batch processing of panel and furniture edges: Shelves, facings, and cut pieces are given the same rounded edge on both sides—one edge at a time at the table.

Does this fit your router?

The shank requires an collet Ø 8 mm – available at RUWI router table as standard; it is also compatible with hand routers, bench routers, and CNC machines. Important for symmetry: The material thickness must be between 11 and 22 mm – the router bit will not center workpieces that are thinner or thicker than this. The compatible tables are shown in the RUWI router tables.

If you only need a single edge, the simple chamfering and rounding cutters are the more compact choice—the overview shows the RUWI milling tools.
