The RUWI R8 Rounding Cutter rounds off wood edges with an 8-mm radius—powerful and precise, yet slightly more subtle than the large quarter-round radii. The lead-in ball bearing (Ø 12.7 mm) runs along the edge of the workpiece and guides the cutter even along curved contours for which no stop fits.

The router bit is double-edged and carbide-tipped (HW, Z2), right-hand rotation, with a diameter of 29 mm tool diameter and 13 mm working length; shank with a diameter of 8 mm, overall length 59 mm. It cuts softwood, hardwood, MDF, and laminated panels. If the ball bearing wears out, you can replace it—instead of replacing the entire router bit.

Here's how to use it

  • Rounding furniture edges for a comfortable grip: the 8-radius makes cabinet edges and fronts easy to handle without making the furniture look soft.
  • Preparing MDF edges for painting: The rounded edge allows the paint to adhere to the edge, whereas sharp edges cause the paint to peel off.
  • Milling curved contours: The guide bearing follows the curve of the panels and cutouts—the stop remains folded down.
  • Batch processing on the table: On the “ router table ,” you guide the workpiece past the stationary milling cutter—edge by edge, with the same profile.

Does this fit your router?

The shank requires an collet with a diameter of 8 mm. With this radius and the Ø-29 head, it’s worth using the router table —it runs more smoothly and safely than freehand; the stepless speed control RUWI router tables adjusts the speed accordingly. It also runs on CNC machines.

The R10 and R12.7 radii are bold and rounded, while the R2 through R6 radii are more subtle—this full range provides an overview of the RUWI milling tools.
