RUWI 's R12.7 rounding bit rounds off wood edges with a 12.7-mm radius—the largest radius in the series—for generously rounded edges and the classic quarter-round. The guide ball bearing (Ø 12.7 mm) runs along the workpiece edge and guides the cutter even along curved contours for which no stop fits.

The router bit is double-edged and carbide-tipped (HW, Z2), right-hand rotation, with a diameter of 38 mm tool diameter and 19 mm working length; shank , 8 mm diameter, overall length , 66 mm. It cuts softwood, hardwood, and laminated panels. If the ball bearing wears out, you can replace it—instead of replacing the entire router bit.

Here's how to use it

  • Smoothly rounding tabletops: the 12.7 radius transforms the sharp edge of the tabletop into a smooth, comfortable curve—even on curved tabletops, as the bearing follows the contour.
  • Shaping handrails and grip strips: two passes from both sides create the half-round profile—the grip surface fits comfortably in the hand.
  • Cutting a quarter-round profile: With full cutting depth, the R12.7 mills the classic quarter-round profile on moldings and frames.
  • Operating without a stop: The guide bearing provides guidance through curves and cutouts—the stop remains folded away.

Does this fit your router?

The shank requires an collet with a diameter of 8 mm. Important note regarding this head: With a diameter of 38 mm, the milling cutter fits into the router table and runs at a reduced speed—this is mandatory for this diameter, not optional; the stepless control of the RUWI router tables sets the appropriate speed. It also runs on CNC machines.

R12.7 is the most pronounced radius in the series—for more subtle edges, the same design is available in radii ranging from R2 to R10 in the overview of RUWI milling tools.
