The hand-held router is the tool that comes to the workpiece: door panels, stair stringers, countertops, assembled cabinet bodies. The LO 55 is the lightweight solution for these tasks— slots ing and rebating against the rip fence, profiling edges, template routing with a copy ring, cutting out openings for sinks and electrical outlets, and, with the LO-FA adapter on the hole-pattern rail, drilling 32-series holes directly on the furniture. Weighing just 3.1 kg, it works with precision even where you hold it for extended periods—along the edge, overhead, or during assembly.

The cutter change is tool-free—flip the clamping lever, lock the spindle, swap—the only one of its kind in its class; anyone who switches between slot and chamfer cutters in rhythm saves time with every change. 1,100 W continuous power, depth via scale plus fine adjustment (one rotation, one millimeter). And the speed adjusts to the bit: the larger the diameter, the lower the permissible speed setting—the user manual lists this in a table, and it’s a safety measure, not a matter of finesse. Milling is done in reverse: when running forward, the bit pulls itself into the wood.

The fact that you’re buying the Mafell router at RUWI isn’t something to be taken for granted: We’re manufacturers ourselves— router tables, lifting tables , and Spanntechnik from Fluorn-Winzeln, 4 kilometers from the Mafell plant in Oberndorf am Neckar. We carry products that we can recommend based on our own experience—and we’ve even included below the sentence from the operating instructions that other retailers leave out.

Here's how to use it

  • Milling on installed furniture: slots — grooves, cutouts—the machine comes to the workpiece.
  • Change cutters on the fly: Clamping lever, spindle lock, swap—tool-free, the only one in its class.
  • Drilling 32-hole rows on furniture: using a LO-FA adapter on the hole-row rail—without a template.
  • Hold it steady, stay precise: 3.1 kg—on the edge, overhead, on a ladder.

Does this fit in your workshop?

Anything over 8 mm shank is out of the question: 12-mm cutters and large profiles in solid wood are a job for the LO 65 Ec. And here’s something we won’t keep from you: The user manual explicitly prohibits any stationary use, even in workbenches. If you’re doing batch production or cutting continuous profiles, you’ll be working router table a self-powered unit; the LO 55 remains what it is: the portable router. An honest look at the category: Festool’s OF 1010 is 400 g lighter and is backed by the most extensive accessory lineup on the market—the LO 55 holds its own with tool-free bit changes, continuous-duty design, and the F-Rail system complete with its row of holes. Those deeply immersed in the Festool system are well served there.
