Here's what's included
• 1 × support rail with non-slip coating, length depending on model (80 cm or 120 cm)
• 2 × clamping brackets with clamping bolt Ø 20 mm and clamping lever
The idea behind it
Reiner Ruggaber
The RUWI support rail is a 40 × 40 mm aluminum profile with an anti-slip surface and two clamping brackets featuring stainless steelclamping bolt Ø 20 mm – available in either 80 or 120 cm. Thanks to the tool-free clamping lever , it can be mounted in seconds on any perforated table with 20-mm holes and performs three functions at once: workpiece support, stop, and table extension.
The anti-slip surface holds the boards in place through friction—sanding and edge finishing can often be done without additional clamps. The multiplex support base also turns the guide rail into a sawing surface: If the cutting depth of the circular saw is set slightly too deep, the blade has room to move downward without cutting into the table. The guide rail is manufactured in Germany.
Here's how to use it
- Placing and Sanding: Place the workpiece on two rails—the non-slip surface holds it in place during sanding and edge finishing, usually without a clamp.
- Use as a stop: When positioned parallel to the edge of the workpiece, the rail provides a fixed reference for repeatable machining—lengths, angles, and miters.
- Extend beyond the edge of the table: when stretched out, it can hold doors, stair treads, cabinet sides, and planks that are larger than the table.
- Inserting clamps: The open steel caps at the ends of the profile hold rail clamps in both vertical and horizontal positions—Festool FSZ, Bessey GTR, and similar models.
Does this go with your table?
clamping bolt s fit into any 20-mmhole grid: RUWI lifting table , Festool MFT, Sauter Variobench, or your homemade workbench. Regarding length selection: The 80-cm version runs across the width of the table and is sufficient for cutting and sanding compact parts, while the 120-cm version can accommodate doors and planks along the full length of the table.
For most jobs, you'll need two rails so that the workpiece rests on both sides—for long planks, four are recommended. The set includes two 120-series rails; wear parts such as replacement soles and replacement pads can be purchased separately, and the workpiece supports are screwed on and replaceable.
