Brief description

A crosscut saw and table saw in one machine. For crosscuts, the workpiece is held firmly against the stop, and you pull the rotating blade through—nothing slips, and every cut is precise and repeatable according to the scale. With the rear support locked in place, the Erika functions as a table saw with a rip fence. 72 mm cutting height, 37.2 kg, a transport load.

Mafell was the first manufacturer to build the under-table rip saw (according to the manufacturer)—the Erika is the original model of this design, manufactured in Oberndorf am Neckar. It is used wherever material is cut to size, cross-cut, and split, without an “ sliding table saw ” standing next to it: on assembly lines, in trade-show construction, and as a compact sawing station in the workshop.

Let’s be honest: For material thicknesses of 72 mm and up, the Erika 85 is the tool of choice; the KSS series handles simple cross-cutting without a table function more easily—and for rough longitudinal cuts on lumber, a construction-site table saw at a quarter of the price is the sensible choice. The Erika justifies its price with its cutting action, repeatability, and its stop system.

Applications

  • Batch cutting of moldings and framing lumber—with repeatable accuracy based on a scale
  • Caps and Miters in Assembly and Trade Show Construction
  • Rip cuts and trimming using a table saw with a rip fence
  • Small pieces and sections that would slip on a construction site table saw
  • Coated panels, aluminum profiles, and acrylic, thanks to stepless speed control
  • Cut to size right at the installation site—one person, one load

The Pulling Principle

The blade is out of the way when you don't need it. When not in use, the saw blade is retracted beneath the table; after a pull cut, the carriage returns automatically and locks into place. The carriage's guide on the front and rear sections maintains cutting precision even during bevel cuts—that is the core of the design.

One degree below zero. The cutting height starts at −1 mm: The blade dips just slightly below the table surface—for clean, complete cuts without a ridge.

Infinitely variable speed means it can also cut aluminum and plastic. soft start, constant speed under load, and restart protection after a power outage. Its little sister, the Erika 60, doesn’t have these features—if you’re cutting coated panels, aluminum profiles, or acrylic, you’ll need the 70.

Quickstand: The aluminum legs fold out tool-free and feature level adjustment for uneven floors. It also comes with a standard set of wheels.

When not using this saw

For material thicknesses of 72 mm and above, the Erika 85 (85 mm cutting height, 430 mm feed length) takes over. The KSS family handles pure cross-cut and miter work—without a table saw function—more easily. Large-scale mobile panel cutting is a job for the MT 55 on rails—and batch cutting of full-size panels remains the domain of the sliding table saw. The Erika is an assembly saw—a very precise one, at that—but it is no substitute for an FKS.

And for rough longitudinal cuts on lumber and formwork, a construction site table saw—at about a quarter of the price—is the sensible choice. The Erika justifies its price through its pull-cut function, repeatability, and the stop system—not through rough cutting. The machine advisor will help you determine which saw is right for your work with just two or three questions.

Stop blocks, accessories, saw blades

Right out of the box, you can cut, miter, and trim—a universal stop, clamping block, push stick, dust extraction kit, Quickstand, and wheels are included.

Your first purchase depends on your workshop: Assembly → Support for long workpieces · Workshop → Ruler and rip fence · Wide cutting → Extension table.

The full expansion kit turns the assembly saw into a permanent sawing station: sliding carriage (cuts up to 905 mm, 038563), 1,000-mm rip fence with crosscut flap (203396), extension rod up to 1.8 m (038309), telescoping rip fence with 1/10-mm fine adjustment (207506) on the extension table (208438), and MFA multifunction fence with angle locking and zero-point compensation (207910).

The table is the interface: The surrounding dovetail profile accommodates everything tool-free —compatible within the 65/70/85 family all the way back to the Ec generation. Since 2023, it has featured clamping levers instead of wing screws; you can retrofit older machines with the “SET-ERIKA-UP” kit.

Supporting long workpieces—two ways: The Mafell extension table widens the cutting surface flush with the table and supports the stop. The RUWI table extension is the narrow, foldable support on the dovetail—it prevents long workpieces from tipping over, serves as an outfeed, and can be taken along to the job site.

Blades Ø 225 × 30: Z 32 WZ universal (092460, standard) · Z 48 WZ fine-cut (092462) · Z 68 FZ/TR for plastic and aluminum (092464).

Ventilation and Electricity

Two extraction ports—protective hood at the top, table at the bottom—via the standard extraction kit, with the dust duct routed to the rear. The recommended system partner is the S 35 M extraction unit; for information on why dust class M is required for wood dust, see the knowledge article on wood dust extraction.

No battery—and here’s the thing: The Erika is available only as a corded model. Mafell doesn’t offer a cordless table saw—we’ll discuss whether another model can handle your work without a cord.

Value Retention and Warranty

Mafell-Complete covers the machine for 36 months—including wear parts and a pickup service. ServicePLUS extends this coverage for an additional 36 months for €36. Mafell stocks replacement parts for 10 or 15 years. The 2023 generation of guide rails can be retrofitted to older machines—Mafell upgrades machines it has sold rather than letting them become obsolete. And Mafell resells its own used machines—the best proof that these saws retain their value.
