Carpentry Schwarzwälder in Königsfeld
We want to find out what makes workshops successful and what has made them what they are today. What principles lead to success, what ideas are behind them? In this series, we visit various businesses: from the carpentry trade to woodworkers, educational institutions and industry.
Where did your workshop story start?
Our history began in 1928, when Rudolf Schwarzwälder opened a joinery in Königsfeld-Burgberg. What began back then with a passion for craftsmanship and regional roots has developed over several generations into a modern family business. After our father passed away in 2020, Tom and I (Nico) took over the management of the company. However, our enthusiasm for craftsmanship has been with us since childhood, when we regularly helped out in the workshop.

How and why have you developed as a company?
The development of our workshop has always been guided by our commitment to combining tradition with innovation. Each generation has continued, modernized, and expanded the business: from new workshop buildings and a state-of-the-art paint shop to sustainable energy systems such as photovoltaics and geothermal energy, as well as the digital transfer of CAD data to CNC-controlled machines. These investments were necessary to respond to technical, environmental, and organizational requirements while ensuring our long-term viability.

We are guided by clear principles: quality and precision in our work, a customer-focused approach and transparency in our processes, a commitment to the environment and responsible use of resources, as well as the promotion of expertise and the next generation of craftsmen. We see ourselves as the intersection of traditional craftsmanship and modern technology.
