What's Going On With Us
You know us as a manufacturer. router tables, lifting tables, quick-release clamps—developed and assembled in Fluorn-Winzeln. And now we also carry Mafell machines. That might make you wonder: Why would one manufacturer carry another’s machines?
Because they were never far away from us. Mafell machines have been part of RUWI from the very beginning—not as display models, but in active use. For cutting in our production facility, we use the sliding table saw —it’s the better machine for this job. The Erika comes into play when the work takes place elsewhere: on projects, at the construction site, or for our own carpentry work. And then there are the cordless screwdrivers. Our carpentry team doesn’t know these machines just from a brochure. They know them by heart.
And we know their limitations. Long boards tip over the back edge of the Erika—anyone who owns one knows that. At some point, our first “ table extension ” was sitting right there, built for our own use. No commission, no specifications—a problem on Monday and a solution by Friday.

Why Mafell, of all companies?
Because Mafell was there before anyone believed in " RUWI ."
In the early days of RUWI , Reiner had built an router table but didn’t have a booth for it. He showed it to Ernst Krauss, who was then at the helm of Mafell. Krauss saw the potential in the table and made room for it at the Mafell booth at the HOLZ-HANDWERK trade show in Nuremberg. There stood the first RUWI router table —next to the machines of a manufacturer that was well over a hundred years old at the time. One square meter of booth space from a company that had nothing to show for it. That one square meter grew into RUWI . You don’t forget something like that.
What Reiner saw back then is still what we see today. Mafell has been building machines for the woodworking trade since 1899. The Erika was introduced in 1980 and became the generic term for under-table band saws—maybe you have one running right now. The machines are developed and manufactured in Oberndorf am Neckar, with vertical integration of up to 85 percent. Spare parts are available for ten years after production ends.

What's Changing for You—and What Isn't
The price doesn't change. Mafell sets it, and it's the same everywhere. So you don't need to shop around. The only question that remains is where you buy it—and whether there's someone there who actually uses the machine themselves.
It’s here with us. You’ll find most of the Mafell machines from the shop in Fluorn-Winzeln, where Erika keeps them table extension . After a consultation, we’ll gladly let you take a machine back to your workshop for up to 14 days. That’s where you’ll decide if it’s right for you—not here at our shop.
