Disc groove cutters for flat dowels with a long shank and various guide rings

With this slot cutter, you can cut clean slots for flat dowels on your router—without needing a separate Lamello router. Two carbide cutting edges (Z2), 4 mm slot width, Ø 40 mm tool diameter, right-hand rotation mounted on an 8-mmshank with a 49 mm shank length.

The highlight is the “ guide ball bearing ”: It guides the cutter along the edge of the workpiece, and its diameter determines how deep the slot will be. Three ball bearings are included—Ø 23, 19, and 15 mm. You loosen the nut, swap out the bearing, and adjust the slot depth for flat dowels in sizes 0, 10, and 20. One tool for all three common Lamello sizes.

Here's how to use it

• Joining cabinet bodies: Cut a slot in both pieces, insert flat dowels with glue, and join them—the connection will align itself as the glue sets.
• Change the dowel size in a minute: Loosen the nut, swap out the bearing, and continue milling—from size 0 in a narrow frame to size 20 in the cabinet side, without a second tool.
• Without a score along the edge: the bearing runs directly against the workpiece—the slot maintains the same distance from the edge along its entire length.
• In a series on the " router table ": Guide the workpiece along the edge, slot by slot—the no-investment alternative when the Lamello router is missing or in use.

Does this fit your router?

The shank requires an collet Ø 8 mm – available at RUWI router table as standard; hand-held and bench routers as well as CNC machines are also compatible with it. The long shank (49 mm) provides the reach needed to work along the edge with the Ø 40 disc head – at a reduced speed for this diameter; the stepless adjustment of the RUWI router tables adjusts it as needed. In our own workshop, we use it to cut precision-fit flat dowel joints.
