Anyone who runs a workshop is familiar with the problem: machines, tools, consumables, and spare parts often come from different suppliers, and when repairs are needed, the search starts all over again. Maschinen Kaul brings it all together. The company doesn’t see itself as just a supplier, but as a solutions provider—which means you don’t just get the machine, but also advice, delivery, training, and, in case of service needs, a point of contact with their own workshop in the region.

Over 100 Years of Maschinen Kaul – A Fourth-Generation Family Business

The story begins in 1919, when Heinrich Kaul founded the company in Düsseldorf. One of its first client accounts was Maschinenfabrik Gottlieb Stoll in Esslingen—which would later become the parent company of Festool. Maschinen Kaul continues to distribute its products today under the Festool and Protool brands, a supplier relationship that has spanned more than a century. After the war, the company grew rapidly, moving several times to larger buildings within Düsseldorf, and in 1978 moved to its current location on Monschauer Straße in Düsseldorf-Heerdt—with over 3,000 m² of warehouse and showroom space and two in-house repair shops. In 2019, Maschinen Kaul celebrated its 100th anniversary. Today, the family-owned business is led by the fourth generation—the founder’s great-grandchildren, Christian Butt and Heiner Butt. Over the decades, Maschinen Kaul has evolved from a pure supplier of machines and tools into a solutions provider for wood and plastics processing companies. The values the company upholds are honesty, fairness, trust, sustainability, and the pursuit of quality—and the commitment to thinking in terms of generations rather than quarters.

Two locations, one delivery area: Düsseldorf and Neuenkirchen-Vörden

Maschinen Kaul operates from two locations. The headquarters in Düsseldorf-Heerdt serves Düsseldorf, the Lower Rhine region, the Rhineland, and North Rhine-Westphalia. In 2010, a second location—Maschinen Kaul Nordwest in Neuenkirchen-Vörden—was added to serve northwestern Lower Saxony, including the areas around Osnabrück, Vechta, and the Emsland region. With around 75 employees, the company is large enough to offer a comprehensive product range and fast service, while remaining close enough to its customers to provide personalized support. For businesses in the Düsseldorf region, Heerdt is the go-to location—easily accessible from the left bank of the Rhine and via the nearby highway, with parking right outside the door.

What Maschinen Kaul means for your business

The product range is extensive and tailored to practical needs. It spans everything from stationary machines to small machinery and power tools, as well as machine tools, CNC tools, hand tools, measuring equipment, and workshop supplies. This is complemented by fastening and joining technology, consumables, and adhesives, as well as storage shelving systems and workshop equipment. One key area that sets Maschinen Kaul apart from many specialty woodworking retailers is plastic processing—the company has always considered wood and plastic together from the very beginning. This allows you to meet most of your workshop needs through a single point of contact, with advice from experts who have practical experience with both materials.

The Brand Landscape: Leading Manufacturers Plus Our Own Brand

When it comes to hand tools and power tools, you’ll find brands such as Festool, Protool, Mafell, Makita, Fein, Lamello, and Mirka. For stationary machines, Maschinen Kaul works with manufacturers such as Martin, Striebig, the Homag Group, Heesemann, Höcker Polytechnik, and Untha—from panel saws and edge banding machines to dust extraction and shredding technology. In addition, there is the in-house brand Kaul Tooltechnic, offering router bit and saw blade sets, Forstner bits, and hand tools. This means you rarely have to switch suppliers to get your usual brands—and for machine tools, there’s an affordable in-house brand to boot.

Buy machinery from Maschinen Kaul: consultation, delivery, training

A machine is an investment in your business’s competitiveness—not just an off-the-shelf purchase. That’s why Maschinen Kaul starts with a detailed and objective consultation: What workpieces? What materials? What production volumes? What space is available? What is your budget? Our recommendation is based on these factors, not the other way around. The company then handles delivery, installation, and training on the machinery so that the machine runs smoothly from day one. The machines are specifically designed to process wood and plastic—a distinct advantage if your business works with both materials.

New or used machine?

For smaller businesses in particular, a new machine is a major investment. That’s why Maschinen Kaul also offers used machines—some from trade-ins, some from business liquidations—as fully functional workshop equipment. This gives you an alternative if your budget doesn’t yet stretch to a new machine or if the purchase needs to pay for itself first. Conversely, if you want to sell a machine or trade it in when purchasing a new one, you’ll find a buyer here—which is particularly useful during a generational transition or a business closure.

Service and repairs at our two in-house workshops

The biggest advantage of having a local specialist dealer becomes clear when something goes wrong. Maschinen Kaul operates two in-house repair and maintenance workshops equipped with crane systems and offers customer service, maintenance, repairs, and the procurement of spare parts all under one roof. In-house service technicians handle woodworking machines, and training on machines and software is available both at the company’s own training center and on-site. Instead of sending in a defective machine and waiting a long time, you have a local contact who knows the technology inside and out.

The In-House Exhibition: See the Machines in Action

Maschinen Kaul regularly hosts in-house exhibitions lasting several days at both of its locations. Here, you can not only view the machines but also see them in action: Leading manufacturers are on site with experts, there are demonstrations on topics such as nesting, material mixing, and the integration of software into manufacturing, and you can try out the equipment yourself before making a purchase. Anyone planning a major investment can directly compare several solutions here in just a few days—the most efficient way to get an overview.
