Sautershop
Woodworking tools online – Sautershop in Herrsching am Ammersee
As a tool manufacturer based in the Black Forest, we work with select specialty retailers that carry our tools. One of these is sautershop, the retail brand of sauter GmbH in Herrsching am Ammersee—an owner-managed family business that has specialized in woodworking tools and machinery since 1997 and carries our entire RUWI product range in its online store. On this page, we’ll introduce you to our partner and their product range in detail.
sautershop combines specialized retail with genuine workshop expertise. Our goal isn’t to offer the largest full-range selection, but rather to provide the right solutions for real-world workshop needs—with over 10,000 products for milling, sawing, drilling, and clamping, expert advice, and a showroom in Herrsching. Customers who order online benefit from fast shipping; those who want to see or try out a machine are welcome to visit us at Ammersee.
„Wir haben eine partnerschaftliche Zusammenarbeit mit sautershop. Wir beide sind Familienunternehmen mit engen Verbindungen und Sympathien. Der gute Umgang, die Schnelligkeit und Zuverlässigkeit sind beeindruckend."
— Florian Ruggaber of RUWI

Specialty retailer for woodworking since 1997
Sauter GmbH was founded in 1997 and has specialized in woodworking tools and machinery from the very beginning. In 2001, the online store launched under the brand name sautershop; in November 2021, the company moved into its current location on Arzbergerstraße in Herrsching. The company is led by Managing Director Martin Sauter. Instead of offering a full product range, sautershop follows a clear strategy: a focus on milling, sawing, drilling, clamping, and systematic workshop solutions. This deliberate specialization results in an exceptional depth of product selection in the core areas, expert advice, and a high degree of confidence in product selection and application.
Advice from the workshop
One of the defining features of sautershop is its team. Advice is provided by phone, email, or in the showroom—by people with a background in the trades, not by an anonymous call center. Many team members have a background in carpentry or woodworking themselves and understand real-world workshop situations from personal experience. Instead of generic sales pitches, you get concrete answers to concrete questions: Which table router is right for your workshop? Is it worth switching to a lift table? How safe is a sliding table saw with the RUWI safety system compared to a standard solution? Video tutorials, detailed product descriptions, and instructions are also available.
The Product Range: Milling, Sawing, Drilling, and Clamping
The online store offers over 10,000 products for professional woodworking. The core categories include routers and router tables, saws and sawing systems, drilling and clamping equipment, workshop and workbenches, CNC and digital workshop solutions, as well as dust extraction and workplace safety. The shop carries brands such as Festool, Mafell, Bosch, Makita, Freud, Kreg, Woodpeckers, Triton, Bessey, Shaper Tools, SawStop, and RUWI—as well as other specialized manufacturers from Europe and North America. Sautershop is particularly well-known for its expertise in routing: several thousand router bits in all standard shank sizes, ranging from profile, groove, and flush cutters to specialty cutters, for both mass-production applications and custom solutions in furniture and interior design.
Sauter Private Label – Practical Solutions
In addition to retail, sautershop develops its own products under the sauter brand, which are designed to meet specific workshop needs. These include the OFL series of router lifts—such as the swiveling OFL 3.0, which has been described in the trade press as an innovative solution that enables precise height adjustment and convenient router bit changes. Also included are the FML-BR router motor lift with integrated dust extraction for clean work at the router table, modular router table systems with HPL router table tops and insert panels, as well as clamping technology and workbenches such as cabinet clamps, gluing clamps, and flexible workbench systems. The in-house products stand for robustness, precision, and long-lasting durability.
